Explore Oil Painting Through Observation, Colour and Process.

Learn from an Experienced Painter

Robert’s workshops are designed for everyone from beginners taking their first steps with oil paint to experienced painters and artists wishing to explore new methods, approaches and ways of working.

Drawing on decades of experience as a painter working with the human figure, these workshops share the processes, decision-making and practical knowledge that underpin a sustained painting practice. Through demonstrations, guided exercises and individual feedback, participants develop a deeper understanding of colour, form, light, paint handling and the possibilities of oil painting.

The teaching is informed by a professional career recognised through representation in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia. This practice was further enriched through postgraduate study at the Glasgow School of Art, undertaken as the recipient of the Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship.

The workshops offer insight into the methods, approaches and ways of thinking that support a more confident and independent engagement with oil painting.
